Fall knitting doesn’t have to just be about cowls, scarves, and hats. Shawls are perfect for fall or winter weather, especially shawls that are knit in a heavier yarn or stitch pattern. Two of my shawl patterns are perfect for this. Texture & Colour is an asymmetrical shawl worked in three colours of DK weight yarn. The Indulgence Wrap is a rectangular shawl also worked in a DK weight yarn.

Most of my shawl patterns can easily be adjusted to use a heavier weight yarn. The Eyelet Chain ShawlLovely Eyelets and 8 Simple Stripes are three that would work very well for fall or winter. Choose a heavier yarn and a larger needle and follow the pattern as written. These patterns are written for any amount of yarn.

And finally, here are two free shawl patterns that are both done in a DK weight yarn. The Truly Triangular and Totally Triangular Scarves are easy to knit and completely free!

Enjoy your fall knitting!
