This week I’m noticing some great knitting patterns that use clever techniques, construction, or smart yarn choices to create something that is just not like all the others.

  • Riemu by Suvi Simola. This crescent shaped shawl has an interesting construction and uses two colours to create the stripes.
  • The cable motif at the back of Hanna Maciejewska‘s Anthro sweater serves the purpose of waist shaping. Very clever and very stylish!
  • Rothbury by Corrina Ferguson is a sideways shawl that uses a beautiful variegated yarn just perfectly. The lacy pattern highlights the jewel tones of the yarn with the lovely eyelets. What a wonderful example of matching pattern and yarn to create something unique and beautiful!
  • The Palatino hat by Carol Feller is worked flat with short rows to shape the top and create a pretty star pattern. It is grafted seamlessly when finished. Very pretty.

Let’s up our knitting ‘game’ by choosing a project that can teach something new!
