Remember when I said that I had a couple more skeins of Malabrigo Arroyo waiting to be turned into something beautiful? Well, here’s a sneak peek at the Lacy Lady Beret. The colour is Chircas.IMG_6444The beautiful colours of Malabrigo Arroyo have certainly inspired me to design the patterns in the Lacy Lady Collection. They are so wonderful. The yarn itself is gorgeous as well – with beautiful softness and drape when blocked. The stitch used, however, is key to highlighting the colours in this beautiful yarn. And I must give credit where credit is due. The stitch is from Vogue Knitting Stitchionary: Volume One: Knit & Purl. It’s the Eyelet Herringbone Stitch. When I came upon it I knew that I had to design something with it. I love the symmetry of it and the texture it creates. And the right twist is one of my favourites! I work it differently from their instructions, but it creates the same effect.

This is what I love about designing – when a yarn, a stitch, and an idea come together to create something beautiful! It just flows from there.

The Lacy Lady Beret is being tested now and will be released in April. Watch for it!
