Originally designed for the KnitPicks Independent Designer Program, Cables and Twists quickly became a favourite hat pattern everywhere. Designed with cable and twist stitches for texture in the main body and a folded ribbed brim, this hat is sure to please everyone. It is worked in the round from the bottom up and uses approximately 220 yards [202 m] of worsted weight yarn. Instructions are written and charted.
Yarn: Knit Picks Swish Worsted (100% superwash merino wool; 110 yd [101 m]/1.76 oz [50 g]). 2 skeins. Shown in Cobblestone Heather.
Needles:
US size 6 [4.0 mm] 16” [40 cm] circular needle.
US size 8 [5.0 mm] 16” [40 cm] circular needle.
US size 8 [5.0 mm] double-pointed needles (dpns).
Adjust needle size as necessary to obtain gauge.
Finished measurements: Finished circumference of body of hat at widest point = 15 inches (38 cm). Finished circumference of unfolded brim is 14 inches (36 cm). Finished total length of hat is 12 inches (31 cm).
Skills required: knitting in the rnd, cabling with a cable needle, increasing, decreasing, stitches used: knit, purl, RT, C6B, k2tog, p2tog.
