Each April, I find myself returning to the same shawl. And if you’ve been following me for a while now, you know why. The Canadian Cancer Society runs their annual Daffodil Campaign. This springtime flower is a symbol of hope and resilience which are important for those who are fighting cancer and those whose loved ones are fighting cancer.

What began as a simple design – Dazzling Daffodils – has slowly become something more for me. A rhythm. A ritual. A way of marking this season. Like many people, cancer has touched my life. And knitting has always been a steady place to land. The repetition of stitches, the softness of yarn, the feeling of creating something warm and tangible. It offers a kind of comfort that’s hard to put into words. And so, each April, I try to extend that comfort outward.

For the month of April the Dazzling Daffodils Shawl pattern will be $2 and all profits will be donated to the Canadian Cancer Society. It’s a simple gesture, but one that feels meaningful. This is one small way I can contribute to something larger than myself.

This year, I’ll be knitting two new versions of the shawl alongside the original yellow. One will be done in a soft pink, and one in a deep violet. Each one feels like a different expression of the same idea: tenderness, strength, and hope held quietly, stitch by stitch.

If you’ve knit this pattern before, or if you’ve been thinking about casting it on, April is a meaningful time to do it. Follow along with me on Instagram while I knit my new versions: @leahmdesigns.

Thank you for being here, and for supporting this work in whatever way you do.
