The Duchess Shawl is a sideways asymmetrical shawl that’s worked with an allover lace pattern creating interest and texture. Use a luxurious sport-weight yarn as suggested here. Or, a fingering or sock yarn could also work well. A rich colour like this deep purple will create a beautiful and luxurious shawl for any occasion.
Yarn: Madelinetosh Pashmina (75% merino wool, 15% silk, 10% cashmere; 360 yd [329 m]/3.5 oz [100 g]). 1 skein. Shown in Duchess.
Needles: US size 6 [4.0 mm] needles or size needed to obtain gauge.
Finished Measurements: Approximately 29 inches (74 cm) deep at middle point and 51 inches (130 cm) long across top edge, after blocking.
Skills required: Increasing, decreasing, knitting lace, blocking lace. Stitches used: sl, k, p, yo, ssk, kfb, k2tog, SK2P, S2KP2.
