The beautiful Salt Water and Sea Stars shawl pattern is available now! I designed this gorgeous end-to-end shawl pattern in the pretty Sage colourway of Akara Yarns Merino Sock. It was this beachy colourway that inspired me to use this pretty lace and cable pattern for the lace edge. The depth, texture, and pointed arms of the 6-stitch cable also remind me of sea stars or sand dollars. And the pretty blue with speckles of gold looks like ocean water along the sandy seashore.

This end-to-end shawl starts with only 4 cast-on stitches and ends with 4 stitches to bind off. You will knit the garter body and lace border at the same time all in one piece. I knit mine with one skein of yarn (420 yards). You can make yours smaller or larger depending on how much yarn you have. The pattern includes instructions for this.

The pattern also includes full instructions for the pretty cable stitch. You can also find a photo tutorial here at leahmichelledesigns.com: Working the 2/2/2 Left Purl Cross (LPC).
