I’ve been having a lot of fun this winter revisiting and re-knitting my hat patterns. As you saw in my earlier post, Hats, Hats, and More Hats (Part 1) I knit new versions of the Bestie Beanie and the Bestie Slouchy, as well as a Cables & Twists Hat. And now I’ve knit another Cables & Twists Hat (which I’ll talk about in a minute), a fabulous new Gratification Hat, plus a new Royal Slouch.
Gratification Hat
The Gratification Hat pattern is part of the Winter Comfort Collection. This is a collection of 5 accessory patterns that are all designed in neutral colours and natural fibres. The Gratification Hat was originally designed in Brooklyn Tweed Shelter in Fossil. You can see it in the photo below on the left. This time I decided to try it in the beautiful Apple Pie colourway of Sweetgeorgia Superwash Worsted and it’s very striking as you can see here in my progress photos.
This might just be my favourite hat this winter and it’s all due to this gorgeous colour. I decided to add a solid black snap-on faux fur pom-pom to top it off. It’s giving me strong ‘pumpkin spice’ vibes and I plan to rock this one in October!
Cables & Twists Hat
If you remember from my earlier post, before Christmas I knitted a Cables & Twists Hat in Cascade 220 Heathers in Charcoal. I didn’t get any good photos of it before it left so I decided to knit another one. I’ve had a beautiful skein of Indigo Moon Yarns Island Time Merino in Stormy Night in my yarn stash for many years. It’s a deep blue and I knew it would give beautiful definition to the cables and twists. And I was right. I love how it turned out!
Pom-Poms
I’ve been using snap-on pom-poms a lot lately and I really love them. The ones I have are from Estelle Yarns. They snap off when you wash the hat. But what’s most fun is that they are interchangeable. I can change the pom-pom colour with my mood. I recently made Instagram Reels to show how I attached the ‘Ink Blot’ snap-on pom to my Cables & Twists Hat and and also how three of my different hats each look with each different pom-pom colour I have (on the right).
Royal Slouch
Finally, I knitted a new Royal Slouch in Malabrigo Merino Worsted. This time I used a tied pom-pom just because this gorgeous Warehouse 2020 faux fur pom in Orchid was the perfect match for Malabrigo’s Pearl Ten yarn colourway. Isn’t it stunning?
I think this is it for my winter hat knitting phase. I think I’ve finally gotten it out of my system. And not only did I end up with a great new collection of hats, I also now have some great new photos to update my pattern listings here on my site and also on Ravelry, PayHip, and LoveCrafts.
You can see all the details for each of the hats on my Ravelry project pages if you’re interesting in learning more.
Happy hat knitting everyone!
