Check out my new shawl pattern: A Walk Through The Garden! This is a sideways asymmetrical shawl pattern with two options. Choose your own path to walk through this knitting garden by either knitting the two-colour stripes and lace version or the one colour all lace version.

If you’re looking for a quick one skein shawl pattern then the one colour lace version is the choice for you. The beautiful lace pattern really pops in a vibrant yarn colour.

If you want more of a challenge and you like working with more than one colour of yarn then choose the two colour version. It adds alternating colour stripes between sections of the same lace. Also, you’ll end up with a larger shawl.

Full instructions for each version are provided as well as notes and a list of abbreviations.

Each version starts at one corner and grows to the far edge where you will then bind off all stitches. Choose two colours of fingering weight/sock yarn for the larger two-colour shawl or one skein for the smaller all-over lace version.

I knitted my two-colour shawl in Black Cat Custom Yarn The Answer To Everything and the colours are Stainless and In The Navy. And my single-colour shawl used one skein of Madelinetosh Tosh Merino Light in Coquette Deux.

  1. Both are gorgeous. It’s like have two patterns in one.
