It seems unlikely, but many plants thrive in the arctic tundra. The Lichen, Berries and Moss shawl pattern celebrates a few of these unique plants including lichen, cloudberries, and also moss. The beautiful Tundra gradient colourway of Hilori’s Magical Yarnorium Meri Jane captures the beautiful colours of this landscape. This is a one-skein sideways asymmetrical shawl that uses increases and decreases to create a long triangular shape that is easy to wear.

This shawl uses three stitch patterns: the ‘lichen’ stitch, ‘moss’ stitch, and ‘cloudberries’ stitch. The pattern includes full written instructions and charts for each of them.

This pattern and the original limited edition yarn were created as part of Hilori’s Magical Yarnorium’s Cross Country Canada Road Trip KAL in 2018. Unfortunately, the yarn is now discontinued.

Any gradient skein of fingering/sock yarn will create the same effect as the original yarn.

Single colours are great too. Get creative and use what speaks to you for your own Lichen, Berries and Moss shawl!
