My #ultimateKAL Sweater
I mentioned last week that I was taking part in the PlumDandi #ultimateKAL. I am knitting the Birchbark sweater in Malabrigo Rios. I finished the beginning section, separated the sleeves, and I am now working the waist decreases. The Coco colourway is gorgeous but oh so hard to photograph. It’s a dark brown and the mid-winter lighting here has been non-existent this week with the overcast and snowy weather. These photos show it best:
Yes, I am alternating skeins. It might not seem all that necessary with this colourway, but I alternated in the second skein and it is much darker than the first. I am now alternating it back out and switching to a lighter skein. This is a good reminder to always take a look at and compare each skein and to alternate them if necessary.
New Knitting Pattern Sneak Peek!
Also on the go this week is the Royal Slouch. The Royal Slouch is a slouchy hat that uses the same cable stitch as the Royal Cowl. It’s not really as ‘regal’ as the Royal Cowl. It’s more relaxed and laid back. It is designed in the gorgeous Indigo Moon Yarns Island Time Merino. The colourway is Gaia Green. Gorgeous, right? Indigo Moon is a Canadian yarn company on Gabriola Island, BC. I love to support Canadian yarns and west coast yarn companies especially, because all of my family now lives on Vancouver Island. I love the area and hope to live there too some day soon!

Don’t you love that nice big pom pom? I also have a pom pom making tutorial coming. I love my Clover pom pom makers and I want to show you all how to use one to make a great pom pom. If you haven’t discovered them yet, you must try one out! (But be careful, it’s addictive).
The Next Great Knitting Pattern
I am already working on the next new pattern. I’m on a bit of a hat kick lately, so I’ll do one more hat before I move on to other designs. This one is another slouchy hat and it is closely related to one of my already published patterns. Oh, and it might involve a fur pom pom this time. That’s all I can tell you right now!
Free Knitting Pattern Alert!
Finally, I am also working on a new free pattern. If only I could find time to finish it with all the other projects on the go…. I’m trying! I hope to get it up on the blog before the end of the month. Wish me luck!
