Heavenly Stole

Inspired by the Heavenly Cowl, this lacy rectangular stole borrows the Heavenly stitch pattern which is placed at each end. Moving to the centre, the pattern changes into small diamonds, meeting in the middle with a beautiful panel of large lace diamonds. The stole is worked flat  from two ends and grafted together closer to one end.


SweetGeorgia Yarns Merino Silk Lace (50% merino wool, 50% silk); 765 yd [700 m]/3.5 oz [100 g]). 1 skein. Shown in Boysenberry.


US size 5 [3.75 mm] needles or size needed to obtain gauge.


20 sts and 23 rows = 4” [10 cm] in pattern, after blocking.


Stitch holder/spare cable; tapestry needle; blocking tools.


Block to approximately 17 inches [43 cm] wide and 77 inches [195 cm] long. Stole will shrink back a bit after blocking.


Basic lace knitting, grafting stitches using Kitchener Stitch, blocking. Stitches used: k, p, yo, k2tog, SKP, SK2P.
