I decided to knit a pretty shawl for my mom’s birthday recently. She is definitely knit worthy because she loves and wears everything I knit for her. Today, I am sharing the pattern that resulted from this project: Mom’s Shawl. This is a top-down crescent-shaped garter shawl with contrasting stripes. It’s very easy to complete and stripes always make a knitting project go faster, right?
This shawl is designed in two colours of Malabrigo Mechita, a wonderful superwash fingering-weight wool. One full skein of the main colour is required (Eggplant is what I used) and about 150 yards of a contrasting colour (Sandbank).
Knitting, increasing, and changing colours are the only skills required. Oh, and blocking of course. Block that top edge tightly to get a straight edge. If you’re looking for tips on changing colours, take a look at my tutorial: Changing Colours When Knitting Stripes 101.
Get 30% off this pattern until January 22nd, with coupon code stripes. Purchase via Ravelry: Mom’s Shawl.
