As the Indie Design Gift-A-Long sale draws to a close tonight, the KAL/CALs are busy with knitters and crocheters working on the patterns from participating designers. Some projects are already completed and posted in the FO thread. The GAL runs until the end of December giving everyone plenty of time to get all of their gift knitting done. Meanwhile, many of the participating designers are still publishing new patterns. They may not have made it into the sale, but they are still eligible for the GAL. Here are a few new releases that I have noticed this week.
- The Knit It Black collection by Alex Tinsley is a gorgeous collection of 6 sweater and accessory patterns shown in black. A portion of the profits are being donated to animal rescue charities that specialize in black cats and dogs or other hard to place pets. Coming from a family of cat lovers who have adopted many a needy pet, I can say that a few black cats have crossed my path over the years and nothing bad has come of it! This is a fabulous project and the designs are beautiful. I think my favourites are the hats – Sambuca Noir and Seal – because they are clean, classic designs.
- Leaf Festival by Monika Sirna is a gorgeous blanket worked in a super bulky yarn. The embroidered detail is pretty and will surely teach some a new skill. Love it!
