Friday Follow-Up: Online Knitting Highlights For The Week of April 20

I’m always on the look-out for new and beautiful yarn. Aren’t we all? This week, I’m really looking at the yarns that all of the latest patterns are designed in.

  • PLUCKY-SpringForward2015-ebook-COVER_small2I am beginning to realize that I am going to have to get my hands on some yarn from The Plucky Knitter. They have a new spring collection of patterns out today and the colours are vibrant and bright, the garments look soft and comfortable, and they keep coming out with beautiful designs. The collection I’m talking about is Spring Forward: A Plucky Knitter Collection. I love everything that Amy Miller designs and she has lots of great Plucky patterns in this collection. I love Tide Chart. It’s a classic pullover shown in a neutral grey. Hazy Morn is a cute cowl. Jill Zielinski‘s Beach Walk is a beautiful shrug. I could go on and on! Check out all of the patterns here.
  • Brooklyn Tweed is another yarn that I haven’t had the pleasure of working with but look forward to. Their pattern collections are also always beautiful and the latest is BT Men: Volume 2. It is, as the title suggests, a menswear collection. There are lots of sweaters in the collection. I love Julie Hoover‘s striped Bradbury. There are also a few accessory patterns. They are all classic and beautiful.
  • Kristi Johnson has two cute patterns designed in Shalimar Yarns Paulie Worsted. It’s a merino/camel/silk/cashmere blend. Ivy Mountain is a pretty shawl and Spanish Steps is a bright and fun cowl.
  • Finally, I believe a discussion of yarn could not be complete without mentioning Malabrigo. I’m in love with this beautiful hat – Crocus – designed by Ekaterina Blanchard. It is designed for both Arroyo and Finito. Lovely!
